Villa Lou Cadene is situated by the road from Spéracedes to St Cezaire, just at the edge of Spéracedes village. The village centre is around 400-500 metres away, (an easy walk) and has an excellent bakers, a small self-service grocers, and a very pleasant cafe-bar (Cafe de L’Union) with outside terraces overlooking the valley, and the village. There is also a small hotel/restaurant offering good value meals at lunchtime.
Spéracedes supports a Post Office, Mairie and a pleasant open space in the village centre often used for markets and events. The Olive mill “Moulin de Baussy”, just below the house, is well worth a visit, and their oil is highly recommended.
Cabris (3km away towards Grasse, 5 minutes by car) This is a stunning hill-top village, very well restored, with even more impressive views down to the coast from the terrace by the church. It boasts 4 well above average restaurants, a number of bars, and is well known as a gastronomic centre locally. We particularly recommend: Le Petit Prince, Auberge de la Chévre d’Or, and L'Auberge de Vieux Chateaux, all of which serve very high quality meals at prices well below those found on the coast. Peymeinade (2km away, 3 minutes by car) This village just below the villa has all major shops, including a very good Champion supermarket with fish counter and good wine and spirits section. There are also more restaurants along the lengthy main street, including Le Pitchoulie with a great Euro 9.50 lunch menu, fruit shops, chemists and filling stations. |
